Abstraction Distraction-freestyle embroidery

This week, I’ve been a bit slow in sharing a craft due to oral surgery on Friday, which left me feeling miserable. Dealing with this pain and nausea is exhausting, and I’m fed up. I’m struggling to function well, so this post may not be as detailed as usual. To say I’m miserable is an understatement.

Despite that, let me introduce you to a simple craft project that doesn’t require precise stitching; it’s all about freestyle. I found all the supplies pictured below for a steal at Goodwill, including some unique vintage threads like sparkling metallic ones. While I don’t go hunting for supplies as often anymore, I’m always delighted to stumble upon wooden hoops for just 25c, which cost $5-$10 each. It’s a thrifty find and a fun activity.
For this project, I like using artiste even weave cotton cross-stitch canvas. I start by placing the canvas and sketching random patterns with a pencil, allowing creativity to take over. Once the design is complete, I delve into my collection of beads and findings to add a personal touch. Remember, just start creating and enjoy the process. While some prefer planning patterns meticulously, I encourage you to let your creativity flow freely.

I’m also excited to share the little embroidered figures I’ve created using embroidery floss. Drawing or tracing a figure and carefully stitching her hair with long loops are later trimmed and styled with a ribbon or thread, you can craft a charming girl with flowing hair and a decorated dress.

I hope this message isn’t too scattered; my thoughts are foggy today. I hope you find joy in this project. Thank you for visiting, I appreciate your support.
