Well, what do you do when you are stuck at home for months on end, unintentionally and unplanned? In December, as we were getting ready to go to California, I was unexpectedly hospitalized. Only my immune system could pull this kind of weirdness. I had oral surgery, and the shock of the surgery with my autoimmune medication and antibiotics created a rare autoimmune reaction that resulted in me developing a very nasty skin condition called Pyoderma Gangrenosa. I have no idea why you would name something with that awful name. It is a very vicious and excruciatingly painful condition. It created very awful leg ulcers on my shins.

The condition is very rare, and it has kept me housebound since December. In the beginning, I was not up for much at all. As the pain has become easier to manage, I have randomly created little projects. Surprisingly, I have not even made anything. The wounds are horrifying and require redressing every second day and a weekly visit to the wound care clinic.

So, in the interest of keeping the blogs up to date, this will not be very long, but here are a few things I have done to keep myself sane over the past three months. This condition can take up to a year to completely heal, but as the days move on, I am more and more mobile. On a good day, I walk with a minor limp, but I have been using a walker on a bad day. Thank goodness that is not needed very much anymore. So here we go. It’s just a pictorial of things you can do when you cannot move off the couch for weeks.
